Techno

My family, the Banyankole people, are from the hills of Bushenyi in Western Uganda, and music and dance have been in our blood since the beginning of time. Through this show I explore connection to culture through the sound of Techno, an art form which was created by black people as a form of resistance to living in a white supremacist society and as an expression of self.

For the second episode, I feel extremely blessed to present a guest mix by Atoxyl.

Recently arriving in Naarm, but hailing from the UK with Caribbean roots, Atoxyl has become a rising talent in the underground techno scene. Gracing numerous venues and intimate gatherings, he is rapidly gaining recognition for his electrifying sets. Atoxyl's musical style consists of an eclectic blend of hard-hitting techno and groovy rhythmic intricacies. His sets are relentless; characterised by driving basslines, industrial textures, and mind-bending hypnotic synth arrangements. This mix has a focus on the connection/balance between past and present; new and old. Intricate and futuristic hi-tech sounds are blended into deep and raw basslines, creating a mix with earthy undertones, alluding to the unadulterated roots of techno and its culture.
